#IMMusicMonday: Ajia Returns with Flavours

London singer-songwriter Ajia follows her prodigious Debut single “Real Love” with “Flavours”

Flavours is a song brimming with joyous, soulfulness and innocent quality that confidently bounces along. Highly enjoyable head nodding music that has a lovely warm feel good factor.

With tastemaker support already coming from Amazing Radio,BBC Introducing,MI-Soul, Westside Radio and a host of major Bloggers.

21 year old Ajia is being tipped in many quarters for a great 2018. Alongside the likes of Jorja Smith, Ray Blk and Mahalia. Ajia is perfectly placed to fly the UK RnB sound globally.

Ajia is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches to her six track EP entitled ‘Visions’. Expect to hear a lot more from her this coming year.

‘Flavours’ was a real blast from the past. The wave of nostalgia that swept over me when I heard this song was undeniable. While the R&B song most definitely had an contempory spin, there is a clear Motown influence here.

I think I have finally put my finger on Ajia’s sound. Urban R&B with a dash of Motown.

(If anyone can think of a name for this blend of styles drop it down in the comments below).

The intro reminded me of the type of beat Jay Z would rap over. Shoutout to the producer because he outdid himself, capturing the essence of the 90s but packaging it in a fresh new way.

This song was smooth and sexy yet remained true to her urban R&B style.

Growing up in south London I can completely relate to story of this song. The hussle and bussle of city that is constantly juxtaposed against the ‘take each day as it cones’ mentality of a child.

This song perfectly captures that freeness while detailing the beauty of living in the moment.

The song also speaks on Ajia embracing her heritage growing up in such a multicultural city.

This track felt like a stroll down memory lane.

I really fell in love with Ajia’s lower register which was both rich and soulful.

I say bring on the EP!

Flavours is available for your listening pleasure on SPOTIFY and SOUNDCLOUD
