Artist BIZZY is building her career with a third single release of 2024, the pop-rock anthem ‘Tastes Like S**t‘.
Exploding into the spotlight by reaching TikTok fame in 2022, BIZZY has developed from millions of views to a record deal with Big Loud Rock and supporting colleagues FRENSHIP on her debut US tour.
Through 2024 the singer has been exploring her internal monologue with ‘When It Ends‘, ‘Default Setting‘, and ‘Tastes Like S**t‘. Her earlier work, summarised in her 2023 EP ‘I Don’t Get Breakups‘, harbours a lot of anger at the world. The alt-pop work is full of blame for previous relationships as she works through heartbreak, directing the blame onto her previous partners.
Her latest songs take a much more contemplative stance. ‘When It Ends‘ reiterates her softer side with lines like, “I’m just a kid so please, treat me like it.” and “Promise me you’ll love me when it ends.”. Then, we can hear the Maryland singer throwing her emotions into the wind with ‘Default Setting‘. Here, she grapples with wanting someone while knowing they are bad for you.
Fast forward to ‘Tastes Like S**t‘ and we can hear inspiration from early 2000’s pop-rock icons. Furthermore, she takes the desperation of ‘When It Ends‘ and the emotional torture of ‘Default Setting‘ through a natural twist into the self-analysis of her role in the breakdown of past relationships. We can still hear her anger from 2022-2023, but we can hear understanding and the artist coming to terms with herself.
BIZZY’s raw emotion, highlighted by her alt-pop-rock style, makes her lovable and real. As she continues to work through her emotions and develop her songwriting, I, for one, am excited to see where she goes next.
