So You Want To Be An Artist? Finding Your Unique Personal Style

“Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.”Rachel Zoe

For any musician the above statement is certainly true, particularly when working in an industry where image is held in such high regard. Your personal style is the perfect way to express your self in manner that is both fun and memorable.

Hey guys it’s Andreia, here again. Whether you are looking for a complete change in your look or just to get a taste of something different there a few simple things you can do that can give you exactly what you are looking for. I personally think there is never a wrong when it comes to fashion because everyone likes different things and everyone has their own unique style. That being said I do believe that different trends and items of clothing look different on different people. For example you may see a dress on someone that you think “ yes girl!! You are looking fiiinne.. that dress is gorgeous” but if you put the dress on yourself it will not look exactly the same as it did on the other person. It’s all about trial and error and not being afraid to try new things.

Tip #1
Understand your figure and work with it

In my opinion I think this is the most important step when it comes to figuring out your personal style. You want to be able to work with your body in the right ways in order to be able to accentuate your assets and hide the things you may not like. For example look at the Queen B herself. Beyoncé knows that her everyone worldwide envies her gorgeous curves so she almost always goes for figure hugging pieces.

Tip #2
Find The Colours That Suit You

This is just as important as understanding your figure. Different skin tones look better with certain colours. Figure out if you have a cool or warm skin tone and then use this chart to figure out which colours suit you best.

Tip #3
Create a Mood Board

Remember when you were little and used to go through your mums magazines and cut out things you liked and stuck them down on paper to create cute posters? I used to do this all the time it was so much fun. It’s time to get your scissors, glue sticks and magazines out and create yourself a mood board. This will help you to figure out what you like in terms of trends, colours and patterns.

Tip #4
Find A Signature Piece

Whether it be a particular hairstyle, makeup look or accessory, find one thing that people will recognise you for. For example Adele and her cat-eye, Amber Rose and her blonde buzz-cut and Ariana Grande and her high ponytail.

Tip #5
Invest In Pieces You Will Use A Lot

I find that this is a touchy topic sometime because a lot of people believe that you don’t have to spend a lot of money in order to look fabulous myself included. However if there is a piece of clothing you know you will wet a lot in different looks then I think it’s a good idea to invest in 1 or 2 pieces. For me this is jeans. Nothing gives a bigger confidence boost than a great fitting pair of jeans that accentuates all the right things.
