Nashville singer Brooke Alexx‘s love for theatrics is hardly a secret. 2020 may just be the year we see her explore this further if her latest video ‘Drunk’ is anything to go by.
From ballads to bouncing bass lines the singer’s infectious sound combines melodic pop with witty lyrics that dive into the realities of navigating the world in your twenties.
Brooke’s latest single follows ‘Downplay’ a mid tempo pop song about now reacting when you see an ex. While her previous single saw her tapping into her love for dance, ‘Drunk’ sees Brooke dipping her toe into the acting world as well as honing her skills as a director.
In a recent interview Brooke explained
“I took a film class my senior year of high school and fell in love with cinema and story-telling through digital media. I decided to minor in film production while in college, and now I direct and edit my own videos.”
The video sees Brooke playing the part of waiter at a less than lively party. When a guy catches her eye she hands him a glass of glitter and if by magic the excitement in the room begins to build.
Brooke definitely has a knack for those fun quirky storylines.
What is the single about?
Beyond the glitz and glam of the party atmosphere, the song addresses the dizzying whirlwind of a new crush. It’s all about the excitement that accompanies meeting someone who makes you want to try new things and the confidence that comes with being comfortable around them.
