North-London-born independent artist Col3trane drops his new single ‘Crocodile Tears’ on November 6th featuring Atlantan rapper turned-singer Chase Shakur.

The multi-faceted artist is back with another sedate alternative R&B track that will surely get you ‘in your feels’. After combing through his prolific discography, ‘Crocodile Tears’ bears all the signature markings of Cole3trane’s sleek and serene approach to R&B. The duo reflects on futile relationships in an apartment enveloped in a hypnotic blue hue. While they rap, the camera drifts in and out of focus, contributing to the song’s trance-like visuals. Distorted backing vocals permeate the record, creating an almost psychedelic atmosphere that is only paralleled by the hazy music video.

On the track, the steadily rising artist speaks about unreciprocated love and effort in a one-sided relationship. He sings: “Snake-skin belts and LV chains and Chrome Hearts don’t stop / The crocodile tears / ‘Cause you hate me somehow, but you don’t even know what I did.”. A surface-level interpretation of the chorus, suggests the speaker’s lover has an unjustified ‘hate’ for him. Although, it may reference the lover’s genuine obliviousness to the speaker’s grandeur gestures. Keeping with the song’s silken vibe, Shakur seamlessly integrates his ‘trap-soul’ style of rapping into the track, weaving in and out of the melodious harmonies provided by Col3trane.

Since his first acclaimed 2017 mixtape ‘Tsarina‘, and his 2022 debut album ‘Lush Life‘, the songster has cultivated a notable body of work. This includes collaborative pieces with artists like Mahalia, Kiana Ledé, FKJ, Sinéad Harnett, Lucky Daye, RAYE, and countless others. Further to this, in 2018, he was a support act on Dua Lipa’s UK and Ireland tour. It was a tour that although localised to mainland Europe, showcased his musicality and artistry to a global audience.

Parallel to his burgeoning music career, his distinctive fashion sense has secured him features in V and GQ Magazine. Moreover, in 2019, we saw him team up with Palm Angels and fashion industry giant Moncler where he donned eccentric clothing.

With almost 779k monthly Spotify listeners, Col3trane’s R’n’B, soul, and jazz-infused music is in high demand. Overall, his dynamic sound has made him one of the UK’s most cherished R&B artists.
