British-born established solo artist Danny George released his EP Romance In High Definition on May 14th. The producer & multi-instrumentalist has been grabbing the attention of the masses with his distinctive sound of electronic indie mixed with the soulful vocals produced. Starting his career in London with Grammy award-winning producers, enabled him to gather major writing credits with Universal, EMI, and Sony.
In 2020 his debut EP ‘Crushed Comfort’ as well as other singles produced by Danny George, helped him to solidify his position as an upcoming artist to watch. He managed to pick up support from The line of best fit, Complex UK, Clash, Wonderland, Dummy, and BBC introducing, which saw his biggest hit ‘Say Something’ reach over 2 million streams.
Romance In High Definition has been described as a “kaleidoscope journey through the hyper realities of romance and friendship”. The songs provide a sense of nostalgia echoing from track to tracks as they follow the narrative of a modern-day relationship. The opening track of the EP ‘I’m Just’ establishes the euphoric electronic sound that the EP is all about. The 2-minute song sets a relaxing atmosphere and connects with listeners who love a track that sells a narrative. The track flows effortlessly to ‘Thinking Out Loud’ which comes in with a sense of tropical house; picking up near the end with a powerful eclectic guitar solo that ends suddenly giving off the joyful peak. The slow electric sounds of ‘We’re Young’ make it the ideal summer 2021 track, with similarities to artist Tame Impala.
‘Tell Me What You Want‘ starts with a steady, positive pace. The beat of the track allows the vocals to really take the limelight and truly follow the narrative of bouncing back after a breakup. It’s the perfect dose of confidence to help listeners pick themselves up after a failed relationship.
Danny George has not only established an authentic sound with powerful lyrics but formed a fantastic new playlist just in time for the summer. Following the huge success of his first EP in 2020, it looks this year will be even bigger for him.
