If you hadn’t heard of the name DNNY before now, you’ll definitely be glad you came across it after taking in his latest single “Skyfall”.
DNNY has been hard at work since the release of his EP “Rebound” earlier this year, determined to showcase this development as an artist within the pop space. Taking inspiration from the likes of One Republic and Sia, with powerful melodic percussion and thoughtful lyricism the Nashville-based singer’s latest single channels feelings of hope. The track follows the success of previously released R&B infused single “Wildflowers”, which is steadily climbing to 30,000 streams after being picked up by Spotify’s own Fresh Finds: Pop editorial playlist.
As the latest addition to DNNY’s ever-growing catalogue “Skyfall” centres around finding love amidst the carnage of 2020 – fun times (!). Perhaps unsurprisingly, the track is notably less flowery than the singer’s previous single stepping away from fantasy to address realities of life and the peaks and troughs of millennial dating.
Speaking on the song DNNY shared
“I want people to feel the spirit of my music,” he shares. “If they can walk away with a piece of my life and it helps them get through a piece of their life, then that’s what matters.”
Fans of Miguel will appreciate the variety in DNNY sonic palette. “Skyfall” presents an effortless Marriage of Rock and pop-soul, seamlessly tied together by an optimal balance of electronic sounds. The standout portion of the song would be its bridge which in addition to delivering a selection of well-rounded harmonies, highlighted the width of his vocal range with glimpses of falsetto and technical vocal ability.
