UK R&B Singer Melica Returns With “Don’t Say Sorry”
Up-and-coming artist Melica is finally ready to release her long-awaited first single of 2021 – “Don’t Say Sorry”.
Hailing from South London via the beautiful island of St Lucia, singer-songwriter Melica has been in the music scene for a while now. Her first single, “Money” was released back in late 2018 and was followed by two more singles in 2019 – “Marco Polo” and “Calling”. Her most recent single, “Put Your Love on Me” was released in May 2020.
The young singer’s love of music began at a young age as her family would frequently relocate as a result of her father’s military career. While moving from place to place, music became an outlet for Melica – becoming an escape from her reality. As she grew up, music further helped Melica – shaping her identity while also allowing room for self-expression.
Melica’s musical style stems from her Caribbean background as well as infusing Pop/R&B to create a signature sound. The young songstress is also influenced by the likes of Beyonce, Aaliyah, and the voice herself – Whitney Houston.
Her new single, “Don’t Say Sorry” was produced by South London producer/songwriter Michelin Shin – who has worked with artists such as Chip, Nafe Smallz, and Wretch 32. The track is a smooth R&B vibe infused with Reggae-inspired up-tempo beats.
Throughout the song, Melica expresses concerns about her relationship; questioning if she is the one her partner wants or if there is someone else in the picture as she feels the distance between them. Melica’s soft and silky vocals convey the song’s emotional theme while also complementing its smooth instrumental as she tells her tale of heartbreak – further proving Melica is one to watch out for in the future. The “Don’t Say Sorry” visuals are scheduled to be released at a later date, so be sure to check out Melica on Instagram and Twitter so you don’t miss the drop.
