A song for all the alt-R&B fans – the new single ‘Big Collide‘ is a perfect taste into the world of WESLEE.
The experimental duo made up of Emma DD and producer Josh Grant, draws inspiration from every corner of the music world. The British/American pair straddle R&B, pop, indie, and soul sounds, whilst adopting an avant-garde musical approach. Moreover, they met while writing for other artists, immediately finding a kindred creative spirit in each other. They share one musical mind, boasting a musical synergy to be admired.
Despite taking a 3-year hiatus, they returned last year more aligned to their creative vision than ever. Furthermore, much like some of their fave artists – Frank Ocean, Prince, and Kanye West – they wish to create worlds within their music. Their new EP ‘WORLD ONE’ is supported by this stellar single.

‘Big Collide‘ has the emotional gravitas of a Snoh Aalegra track, as Emma sweetly sings on futuristic, dreamy production. Equally impactful, the listening experience is like gliding on clouds in a new world, which is likely what the pair were aiming for. Further to this, the production is flawless, with a video-game-like zapping yet supported by some tender piano sounds. The song deals with the collision of personality and energy that a relationship brings. She sings “To fall in love is suicide, really it’s one big collide”.
The visionary twosome seems to be just getting started. They are kicking off 2024 with a strong single and EP project to boot. Step into their off-beat world, and absorb the wonder of fearless artists left to their own devices.
