edbl is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, producer, and guitarist who can work with a variety of artists and sounds, which he has done once again on this two-song project with Japanese guitarist and composer Kazuki Isogai.
These two tracks contain two very different sounds, but both fit into that summery and chilled vibe you would expect from edbl. ‘Lemon Squeezy’ features Taura Lamb, an artist who has collaborated with Ed Black (edbl) a few times before, and the chemistry they have works very well here.

Her confessional lyrics of trying to help a depressed partner see the best in themselves, despite their self-doubt, is a very relatable theme in this age where depression is so rife and those who are important, are there to support them through rough times. The use of piano and the subtle guitar licks give this a very on the beach vibe and while it’s a heavy topic, it’s also a pleasant listen and all artists collaborate well together.
‘Afrique’ focuses on the instrumental as edbl and Kazuki Isogai show off their range with a more acoustic vibe and even some Sax, as they collaborate with Otis Ubaka who kills it with the Sax. Alongside a bit of Afrobeats influence and some subtle background vocals, it’s another good song and will be a relaxing listen in the summer sun.
edbl and Kazuki Isogai have killed it here in terms of the vibe for the good weather and once again showed the versatility and musicality you need to make a name for yourself in the music industry.
