Girls I Rate Are Back With The #GETHEARD Competition
Girls I Rate are back with another project venture that we can all get 100% behind. They have relaunched their A&R listening competition, #GETHEARD, in the search of female songwriters and producers, aged 16-30 who are looking to get their music to as many ears as possible. Not only this, but this stand-out competition gives applicants a chance to win a £3,000, £2,000, or £1,000 bursary, a place on an ICMP engineer and production course, Mix-Cloud subscriptions, Audio Technica Headphones & loads of other cool prizes.
This year the collective has also teamed up with PRS for Music & PRS Foundation, the official partners of the competition, and sponsors from the likes of Spotify, The Beat London, Mixcloud and loads more.
Applicants can submit their music on the Girls I Rate website and will be heard by a panel of A&R experts and radio listeners. However, only three applicants will be chosen in the final stage of the competition. Shortlisted #GETHEARD submissions will feature on the Girls I Rate radio show on The Beat London 103.6FM every Monday until 22 June, 7 pm – 9 pm, with shows available to listen back via Mixcloud!

For those who may not be familiar with Girls I Rate, they are a platform founded to create a platform and voice for “women to collaborate, celebrate and empower each other. It was formed to bring together the talent, influencers, advocates, and passion we all share.” Founded by singer-songwriter, mentor and entrepreneur, Carla Williams, says the competition is “All about the future generation, music is about staying fresh and coming up with new ideas, being able to work alongside PRS for Music, PRS Foundation and Spotify to give these opportunities to young women is everything! Ladies please #GETHEARD!”
The women behind GIR are not shy of partaking or introducing amazing and unique opportunities for women throughout the music industry. So much so, for International Women’s Day, we thought the women behind their GIR radio, hosted by DJ’s Carmen London, JoyToTheWorld, S.Chinx & Jasmine on The Beat London, were an important collective to spotlight.
To apply to #GETHEARD for the chance to have tracks listened to by the expert A&R panel, applicants must submit songs via this link by 31 May 2021!
Good Luck everyone!!
