#IMDiscovers means that another month is gone, and some more great tunes to introduce you to. Whatever your style is, we’ve got you covered with the tracks below:
A Beck – You Coming Back
Summer approaching is all well and good, but it would be nothing without that alternative anthem suited to the long drives and nights that await us. Step in A Beck who delivers just that with the angsty “You Coming Back?” The single sees the performer sings of his ‘summer blues’ whilst he waits to be reunited to be with his lover.
The melodic number produced by Kmo The Bro will undoubtedly hit you rights in the feels, due to the mix of vulnerability and relatability shown. Orlando native A Beck has not just made a song from his heart one that will serve as a staple fixture for summer playlists everywhere.
Lagoon Wavey – Ladybug
“Ladybug” is the brand new joint from Alt R&B artist Lagoon Wavey. The all-encompassing track highlights Lagoon’s rich vocals which “pierce the minimal soundscape with an effortless but powerful grace” as COLORS once rightly described.
Ladybug is taken from the artist’s debut EP The Shore which has just dropped via UK label TenWest. The single follows in the same vein as the previous release “Cliffside”, and he has described the love song as based on “what it would feel like to be the one that is cherished.”
There’s more than meets the eye with this Bajan performer, so if you want to know more about the man behind the music then head to his Instagram where the new vlog series gives you the inside scoop.
Blueish – Cold Feet
Next up is Blueish with the infectious “Cold Feet.” The indie-pop trio was formed at a studio session last year & the members hail from London, Amsterdam, and Copenhagen.
On their formation, they said, “Music is never made alone, and amongst all the division that’s been spoken these past few years, we wanted to show something else and celebrate a sense of creative unity across the continent.”
Blueish’s euphoric new single highlights the eclectic sound of the group, taking inspiration from the genres of UK Garage, Dance, and Bedroom Pop. The song is based on the story of a toxic relationship.
Sofia Evangelina – Endure
She may be just the tender age of 18, but the power in Sofia Evangelina’s voice is unmistakable. For her new single, the Canadian teen teams up with winning producer Rory “Roy” Hamilton, who has worked with names as Britney Spears and Michael Jackson.
Within the first few seconds of the smooth R&B sounds of “Endure”, you can’t help but feel captivated by her vocal ability and instantly recognise that you are listening to something special indeed.
Sofia was inspired by icons such as Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey from a young age and if she keeps it up, she will be the powerhouse of the new generation.
Hana Canhasi – With You
It’s time to slow down things a notch with Hana Canhasi’s chilled new single “With You.”
This one is a vibe for real and there’s a real alluring feel about this track, which is based around a relationship.
Speaking on the song, Hana said:” This song is so so special to me as it portrays the innocent honeymoon love we all hope to experience or reminisce on. I hope it puts people in high spirits when they listen to it, as it did for me in the process of creating it. My first ever music video is also out now to this song, which perfectly captures that honeymoon love. “
Bakare – Tantalise
The UK R&B scene is looking healthier than ever and today we introduce you to a new member, in the form of Bakare.
“Tantalise” is the name of his debut single, and it gives off that old-school and organic R&B sound that we all know and love. Think of the likes of Usher and Goldlink to name but a few.
It seems like there’s a lot more to come from this South Londoner who is a triple industry threat as a singer, songwriter, and producer. “Tantalise” is the first single from his upcoming EP Ascension which we shall await with bated breath.
John Alone – “September lightning (the moment with you)”.
If you’re a fan of Girl In Red, BENEE, beabadoobee, or any artist in a similar style, then we might just have the perfect musical recommendation for you.
John Alone is back with another single titled “September lightning (the moment with you)” following his last release of the Kway featured “On The Run” which received coverage on the likes of GRM Daily and Clash Magazine.
The electro pop-inspired track sees the singer delve into the complexity of short-term relationships.
Badmind – Flaws & Phases
Big things look to be on the horizon for Badmind who have just dropped “Flaws & Phases”
The Newcastle pop duo have delivered on the incredibly catchy new single and were chosen to represent BBC Introducing NE & Yorkshire at this year’s virtual Radio 1 Big Weekend.
In celebration of the single release, the girls treated fans and held a release Livestream live and direct from Newcastle College Performance Academy. During the 1 hour event, they performed various tracks and were joined by special guests Frankie Jobling and SOURBOY who are featured on their track “Buss Down.”
Loie– Take You There
Taking us to magical places is Loie with her mesmerising debut “Take You There”
The South London newcomer joins the long list of homegrown talent but is a different kind of flavour entirely.
To make you feel is the powerful thing an artist can do in their music, and this is exactly what Loie has done on her first single. The warm production alongside Loie’s ethereal vocal style will have you listening to this on replay.
If you like what you hear, you might be pleased to know that Loie is among those on the bill for Cloud X Festival in August.
