#IMMusicMonday: Potatohead people Nick & Astro’s Guide to the galaxy – The highlights

Nick & Astros guide to the galaxy, where jazz meets blues meets electronic, dotted with magical sprinkles of soul. This Project was extremely well put together with each track seamlessly transitioning into the next. While each song offered a slightly different sound they all felt like another part of the same story which is really a testament to the musical ear of the producers.

While I clearly enjoyed the project as a whole there were some standout moments on this both of work that I couldn’t go without mentioning.

Morning sun

The title may have given it away but this is the perfect wake up song. The soul influfence and the smooth electric base made me feel like I was standing in the sunlight myself. This was only intensified by the warmth of the beautiful harmonies.

The unexpected unexpected waves were tranquil and I couldn’t help by close my eyes and imagine being on the beach with my feet in the water and the sun rising around me.

This song was one of my favourites purely because of the imagery the production was effortlessly able to create.

No sleep

This was Jazz inspired mid tempo number. One you couldn’t help but tap your foot to with the funk infused almost discoesque bass line.

It was 4:46 am, I had been up since 3 and after the great energy from this song I was ready to get up and go. The smooth transitions between A and B sections and subtle use of high hats and birds chirping were wonderful additions. This will certainly be a new addition to the wake up for work playlist.

Quest for love
