A Question Of You

Inhaler Have All the Right Answers with New Single, ‘A Question of You’

Irish band Inhaler has released their latest single, ‘A Question of You‘, offering fans a glimpse into their highly anticipated new LP, ‘Open Wide‘ (set for release on February 7, 2025). When the track debuted on BBC Radio 1, the band described it as the catalyst for the album. Lyrically, the song explores themes of self-awareness in relationships. As lead singer Elijah Hewson put it, “…in order to be honest with someone else, you’ve got to be honest with yourself.”.

A Bold New Sound

A Question of You‘ showcases a distinct vibe compared to Inhaler’s previous singles from ‘Open Wide‘. There is an argument to be made that it’s their strongest release yet. The track stands out with its inclusion of London’s House Gospel Choir. Their soulful contribution elevates the song’s emotional depth and creates a powerful, anthemic sound.

Polished Pop Production

This collaboration with the choir was spearheaded by the album’s producer, Grammy and BRIT Award-winner Kid Harpoon. His impressive discography includes production and songwriting credits for Harry StylesFlorence + The Machine, and Miley Cyrus’ chart-topping hit ‘Flowers‘. Listening to the song, it’s easy to imagine ‘A Question of You‘ fitting seamlessly onto Harry Styles’ ‘Fine Line‘ or ‘Harry’s House‘, both of which Kid Harpoon majorly helped shape.

A standout feature of this infectious track is the harmonised guitar riff. One guitar is hard-left panned and the other to the right – a common technique, but one I absolutely love whenever it’s used. Another highlight is the call-and-response-style backing vocals in the refrain (“I found out”). It gives the song a wonderfully conversational and retro feel.

A Promising Glimpse of Open Wide

If this is any indication, ‘Open Wide‘ could become Inhaler’s most accomplished album to date. While Hewson’s vocal inevitably invites comparisons to his father, U2’s Bono, Inhaler continue to carve out their own identity. They prove that Ireland’s legacy of producing iconic rock bands remains alive and well.
