Dreams can start taking root really early in an artist’s life, but it takes talent and hard work to make them a reality. She may only be 14-years-old, but Queeva McDonagh possesses drive, vision and a dedication to her craft that far exceeds her years.
Here’s what happened when we spoke about her new music and more.
Can we expect an EP or album from you this year?
I will be releasing an EP probably sometime during late summer. I can’t wait for my fans to hear what I’ve been working on and have some new songs to listen to!
How does living in the US compare to living in Ireland?
because when I go to Ireland, it’s like a nice break from reality. Everything is so much more laid back, and its nice to be able to experience that since I live in the busy city of Chicago.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully, in 5 years I will be on tour somewhere performing for a huge crowd. 🙂
Is it scary being in the music industry so young and how do your family feel about it?
To be honest, it isn’t that scary for me because I have great parents and a great team behind me to support and guide me every step of the way. I always know they have my back, and my family is very supportive of what I do as well.
What’s the inspiration behind your song Live Like a Song?
When we wrote “Live Like a Song,” I wanted to write a song that talked about what music means to me and how it’s a universal language for everyone. These days there are so many people who feel alone, especially my age, and I just wanted to remind them that they are never alone; music is always something that is there for them to turn to whenever they are feeling down. Music is something that I know I can always turn to. I was inspired to share that message with everyone because in my opinion it is very important to remember that.
What does a successful career mean to you?
A successful career for me would be to have my music heard by others and that my songs leave a good impact on them.
What’s been the most exciting part of your journey so far?
I think the most exciting part of my journey so far has definitely been working with Jamie O’Neal because she has taught me so much about not only singing but also songwriting. She introduced me to songwriting when I was 9, and ever since it has been something I love to do.
Where can people find your music?
People can find my music on iTunes, Spotify, Pandora, YouTube, and Amazon music.
