French-Cameroonian producer, rapper & musician James BKS gives listeners a taste of his upcoming album with new single – ‘Celebrate Blessings’.
An expression of gratitude, the single celebrates positivity and benevolence over obstacles. Filled with Bantu rhythms and an African gospel choir combined with elements of drill and hip-hop, ‘Celebrate Blessings’ explores the musician’s heritage as well as other influences in his life.
“I had to perform my songs myself so that the public would understand my music. ‘Celebrate Blessings’ marks a new stage in my artistic career. I am fully embracing my new role as a performer in addition to being a producer, and my musical style is becoming more refined and assertive. The percussion and different rhythms of my Cameroonian roots but also the gospel songs of Congo, South Africa or Nigeria made me want to create a track that borrows and explores these Bantu roots and fuses them with hip-hop and current pop while telling my story.“
His new album, ‘Wolves Of Africa Part 2’ is set to be released this September. This album will continue to utilise the elements of the African sound James has finessed featuring Congolese guitars, deafening bass from Nigeria, playful female choirs from Cameroon, and Congolese brass. It will also feature fellow artists Yemi Alade, Ibrahim Maalouf, Angelique Kidjo, and many more.
