JANE HANDCOCK has built a funky chemistry with groove master Anderson .Paak in her new single ‘Stare At Me’. All eyes certainly are on JANE, who has built a varied discography. She’s dipped into some throwback soul, progressive R&B, and reggae sounds thus far. This diverse Death Row signed artist has found her musical footing. She isn’t taking her foot off the gas in 2025.
Ahead of her new album ‘It’s Me, Not You’ dropping in July, the sassy and soulful Cali native brings an uplifting sound here. ‘Stare at Me’ captures an unmistakable West Coast feel. This is a single for blasting out your car speakers – roll those windows down and allow the summer breeze to do its thing. Delivering a breath of fresh air from the Bay, this wonderfully playful single is set to be Jane’s most successful track to date.

It’s an industry rule that if you want to guarantee the groove there’s only one man to call: Anderson .Paak. The multi-hyphenate musician never hesitates to work with crème de la crème artists, from big names to rising stars. In addition to his inimitable presence on the track, he delivers some hilarious one-liners that we’ve come to expect from him. As a result, this gives the track a truly memorable quality. Paak paints a picture of his lady love who is about class and comfort. “Cartier frames, gold chain, bucket cap / Crocs on her feet.“. That’s my vibe all summer long.
A relaxed energy and fun-loving approach to music is sorely needed. Furthermore, even before pressing play the album artwork makes it clear that this single doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s all about cultivating good vibes and electric slides. This track could’ve been an extra track on the ultra feel-good Silk Sonic album which I still have on rotation.
Closing the track, there’s a chant you can’t help but join in on. “Uptown, …downtown / …Westside …eastbound,“. It feels like being with your friends and having a garden barbecue party. If that’s your 2025 summer energy, get ‘Stare at Me’ into your playlists pronto.
