Introducing Fonzie andhis new song ‘Just Friends’
This song is type of track you listen to when you’re driving at night time.
One thing that is abundantly clear from this song is Fonzie’s ability to create a compelling narrative.
You can really visualise the conversations being had and the scenes being painted, through the vivid imagery of his words.
It certainly doesn’t hurt that the topic of choice is very relatable within the sphere of millennial dating.
The song details the cycle of being in a situationship. Fonzie offers the often neglected male perspective on the matter being open about the fact that it’s his lovers self-destructive insecurity getting in the way of them being more than friends. As the song progresses the artist becomes more disillusioned with the idea of a situationship, but clings to the idea of friendship as a way to keep his love interest in his life. Sound familiar?
The songs chilled vibe only intensifies Fonzie’s feelings of longing and deep contemplation.
The simple melody and beat are effective here, as despite the complexity of the situation he is faced with, the rappers thoughts on the matter are very straightforward.
More about the Artist
Fonzie hails from West London and is simply looking to add a new dimension to the UK sound. He is an artist that is not scared to experiment with his sound and has the tendency to incorporate his Caribbean roots in his music.
More recently, Fonzie alongside another rapper caller Magic formed a hip-hop collective that goes by the name of Noir.
Noir is most definitely one to look out for this year as we saw their first release “Flex“.
