Kemuel Delivers Spirited and Sentimental New Track ‘Alone’
Nigeria has always birthed great music, but in 2023, it’s unquestionably shaping world music. Nigeria can proudly add Kemuel to its roster of homegrown talent. He brings variety to his growing fanbase, infusing tracks with Afrobeats, R’n’B, and pop influences. Beyond talent, he is clearly hard-working. His new release ‘Alone‘ adds to a year teeming with infectious tracks.
In ‘Alone‘ we hear Kemuel pen a poetic pledge to a girl he wants time with. Whilst this track feels more emotionally anchored than other recent releases, it’s still sonically charged with pure energy. The hook is exceptionally crafted – just try and get it out of your head after one listen. Like so many Nigerian up-and-comers, Kemuel is building on the catchy rhythms of big-time Afrobeats predecessors such as Wizkid and Mr. Eazi.

But what sets him apart from all the other great newcomers? It is the depth of his art. Even the cover art of this vulnerable track suggests juxtaposing worlds and mind-states between him and his girl. She is the light, the energy he needs when he’s in a dark space. Moreover, it’s ironic, as listeners are attracted to Kemuel for his bright, energetic releases. His academic background in fine art is clear, but more so his natural musical abilities. The lyricism is as unique as himself on this track – ‘you are the bone to my marrow’ he sings.
‘Alone‘ teases profound penmanship from the Port Harcourt native, he is capable of sharing deep emotions amidst feel-good production. A stellar guitar solo from seasoned musician Fiokee doesn’t hurt either. Fiokee has collaborated with headliners Tiwa Savage and Davido, so this co-sign is major.
This short and sweet single is a perfect taste of Kemuel for new fans. Further to this, tracks like ‘Alone‘ cement him as part of the new wave. Continuing with releases of a similar calibre, he shall be in all your playlists, all the clubs, and getting all the success.
