COLORS Studios are known for showcasing the very best talent around the world, so it’s only right that Barbados-born singer-songwriter, Lagoon Wavey makes his debut. Performing his recent single Occupied, which was featured on our New Music Round-up, he is starting off 2022 strong. Born and raised in Barbados, he has also drawn inspiration from Bajan native Rihanna and is grandson of cricketer and national hero Sir Garfield Sobers, who he hopes to fill his shoes.
Standing tall behind a berry-coloured screen this time, Lagoon Wavey is keen to make his global debut past his Bajan shores. Combining Electronica elements with R&B and Reggaeton, he is creating a distinctive, signature blend. This track is stunning, slow and everything you need to feel vulnerable. With lyrics exposing the truest form of emotion, Wavey is not shy of expressing his feelings and in the most soulful, harmonious way possible. The song is perfect for those late night drives, post-heartbreak woes, as he effortlessly sings into the mic.
In 2021, he released the project ‘The Shore’ which helped engrave his name in his Barbados, and has already gained traction from the likes of BBC 1Xtra DJ Jamz Supernova and more releases in the pipeline. We can’t wait to see what this soulful musician has in store!
