Hello guys!

I am back with my first brand feature of the #IMGoesGreen campaign.

It was a company I came across during one of the #ethicalhour discussions on twitter and it immediately grabbed my attention as a budding business here in the UK.

You guys know I was not about to shout from the rooftops about a brand or any of its products without trying it for myself.

I was sent the eco cosmetics hair spray* and the eco cosmetics hair mousse*. I did a full review of both over on my Instagram

What I was more interested in though was Eco Cosmetics focus on being green.

I suppose you want some more information about the brand, so here’s what happened when I spoke to the manufacturers:

What inspired the products?

Founder Dieter Sorge grew up in Karlsruhe.

He learned to appreciate the peace and quiet of the forest and concerned himself seriously with plants and herbs and their positive influence on humans.

He turned this passion into a profession and became a natural therapist. The next step would have been to open a practice as a natural therapist but he realized that in a practice he would only be able to help very few people.

He was offered the opportunity to join a newly founded ecological and organic cosmetics company. In this way he was able to incorporate his experience of nature´s healing powers into formulations of new cosmetic products and to make life more pleasant for many people with problem skin.

From then on Dieter pioneered the development of hair and body care products which were so skin tolerant that they could even be used by most allergy sufferers.

How are the organic ingredients sourced?

Thanks to his long and intensive work in the ecological and organic cosmetics scene Dieter has established many connections and friendships. The longstanding association with the Portuguese brothers Joao and Joacquim Carocha has been especially important. Both Carochas are also genuine pioneers of ecological and organic cosmetics who have contributed with their many years of experience as production managers of various German ecological and organic cosmetics companies.

Today both work with Dieter, partly in Germany in the laboratory and partly in production in Portugal. This has resulted in the creation of high quality innovative products.

Are there any products we should be looking out for?

In the UK we will be introducing a load of new eco cosmetics products in April. These will be: Hair Gel, SPF25 Lip Care Stick, SPF20 Sun Milk, SPF30 Sun Spray, Baby & Kids SPF50+ Sun Cream, CC Creams & Compact SPF30 Foundation. The team in Germany of course have many more products as that is where the brand originates!

Are your products cruelty-free?

Yes, all the products are cruelty-free. The organic & natural certification bodies (as well as The Vegan Society) don’t allow animal testing at any stage of production or on the final product either by the company or 3rd parties.
