Limp Bizkit Are Back and Better Than Ever

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Limp Bizkit have returned with a new single titled ‘Making Love to Morgan Wallen‘. The track is their first release since the 2021 record ‘STILL SUCKS‘. The band has only increased in popularity over the past few years. The nu-metal group has been creating iconic albums since its conception in 1994. Their most notable track, ‘Break Stuff‘, is still a staple in alternative bars and venues across the world.

Right from the first listen, I was absolutely thrilled that their sound is rooted in what they’re known for. Fred Durst may be a controversial frontman, but his vocals are one of the band’s most notable features. I think it lends itself well to the vibe of their tracks. His energy in his live performances is also incredible. It’s clear he doesn’t take himself too seriously, and you have to respect that.

Guitarist Wes Borland is another dominating force within the group. He continues to provide foundations to their songs that further the metal within them. In their latest effort, I particularly enjoyed how his work on the outro really filled the sound out. This style of playing and production is a staple within the genre. It instantly draws my mind to the likes of Korn and Papa Roach.

Limp Bizkit is no stranger to making culture-bound references within their tracks. The title of the new single refers to a country pop singer, even though the track itself doesn’t refer to him until the very end. However, the lyrics do give a nod to everything from David Bowie to The Twilight Zone. Durst himself writes the majority of the group’s lyrics. I think by this point in their career, it’s obvious that he’s mastered the balance of well-thought-out writing and the humour they’ve become known for. It might not be to everyone’s taste, yet I’ve always been a fan of the style. ‘Nookie‘ is still one of my favourite break-up songs of all time.
