Mahalia Gets You Pumped For the New Era on ‘Pick Up The Pace’

Leicester’s own Mahalia has had a pretty productive 2024, following a busy previous year that included her second studio album. Following the success of the record which included a worldwide tour and BRIT Award nominations, it appears she’s already on to her next era.
This year has already graced us with another great R’n’B collab with her feature on Jaz Karis’ ‘NICE GIRLS‘ and the smooth UKG of ‘Life Size’ alongside Take A Daytrip. But, following a recent announcement of her new ‘LUVERGIRL’ era, we have the first taste of what is to come. That comes in the form of ‘Pick Up The Pace‘, and it certainly lives up to its name.
It’s a very chill beat, but the reggae influence and the air guitars give it that energy that’ll have you swaying. Her delivery is full of confidence, critiquing someone for not giving their all, and to do what the title suggests. On the feature front is Bayka, who equally has a commanding presence with a short, but sweet appearance. It’s not the big, I’m back single in terms of sound, but the attitude and lyrics give a sense of a person who is not to be messed about.
The music video definitely knew the assignment, as Mahalia gets her workout on at the gym. This is certainly a change in sound, but this singer continues to bring the catchiness and the vocals. We can’t wait to see what’s to come from LP No. 3.
