Namywa Declares She is “SOBER” in Sizzling New Single

Singer and songwriter Namywa delivers a powerful performance on her new single – “SOBER”.

Hailing from Birmingham, she is continuing to make waves in the music scene – with her music and lyrics being described as “fearless”. Inspired by the likes of Amy Winehouse, Yebba, Jill Scott, and Lauryn Hill, Namywa delivers songs seeped in true emotions – taking listeners on a journey further complemented by her distinctive voice. This is achieved by blending the genres of R&B, Soul, Jazz, and Pop Music.

Following the release of her pop heart-throb ballad, “SOLD”, earlier this year, Namywa returns with a stellar follow-up – “SOBER”. Produced by Hannes Anderson, “SOBER” is a powerful song with strong lyrics as she showcases her distinctive vocals. Throughout the song, the artists declares she is “sober” from love and its addictive nature – calling it a “drug” which she is now free from.

“Sober is that defining moment when you realize you don’t need your side of the story told. I know a lot of people’s stories go untold and I hope this song helps them to find peace in knowing they are worth it and that they are sober from the dark side of love.”

A music video was also produced for the single – with the video portraying elements of Fire, Ice, Rain, and Thunder – symbolising the different stages and challenges of a relationship.

Along with being a singer and songwriter, Namywa is the founder of Girl Grind UK – a community interest company (CIC). Girl Grind UK was founded with the purpose of supporting Black and Asian women, girls, and non-binary people at crucial stages in their development – helping them along their personal and professional paths.

Having already performed ahead of artists such as Gregory Porter, Public Enemy, Jimmy Cliff, and Teedra Moses, Namywa has a promising future ahead of her. Having support from The MOBO Awards and Help Musicians UK, things can only get better for this rising star.
