Nora Lilith Releases Haunting New Single ‘Flesh’

Austin-born, avant-garde artist Nora Lilith has just dropped her latest single, ‘Flesh‘. This marks her first release since her 2021 EP, ‘Daysof8.

Nora describes herself as a ‘singing succubus’ in her bio. Her middle name, Lilith, refers to a succubus in Jewish folklore, often interpreted as a symbol of autonomy and independence. This is reflected in her DIY approach to music, as she writes, performs, and produces all of her music.

Flesh‘ embodies the ‘indie girl voice’ style, re-popularised by Lorde’s ‘Royals‘ in 2013. This style features prominent vocal fry, a breathy tone, and quirky pronunciation—all showcased in this track. Nora’s haunting vocals shine over the minimalist, beat-driven production, giving the song an unmistakable Billie Eilish vibe. Lines like, “In the heart of night, my body laments… Yet somewhere deeper, I find the place where pleasure bends to me in skeletal embrace.” evoke a brooding atmosphere. It makes the song a fitting release for spooky season.

This is undoubtedly an artist to watch in the DIY music scene. ‘Flesh‘ is the first single from her upcoming EP, expected in early 2025.
