Odeal Tempts Fans with His latest Single ‘Temptress’

Multi-genre artist Odeal released his single ‘Temptress’ on October 11th. As the song’s title suggests, the entire track oozes sensuality and passion from the start until the very end.
Born in Germany and raised across Spain, Nigeria, and London, Odeal’s music (much like his eclectic upbringing) is a fusion of different musical genres. The 24-year-old artist has already been hailed as a pioneer of the Alte genre and continues to grow. His genre-bending discography has had regional and global impacts, including recognition from artists like SZA, Ciara, and Victoria Monét.
In the track, the London-based artist discusses love, sex, love-making, and the ebb and flow of a seductive relationship. This is done all while providing one of the most soulful instrumentals I’ve heard this month. Odeal interpolates Aaliyah’s iconic ‘Are You That Somebody’ into the background, giving the track a familiar and nostalgic feel. However, the added sounds of a flute and guitar haunt the sampled instrumental transforming it into a sultry melody. Adding to the richness and depth of the song, the songster provides soft harmonies and whispered adlibs.
Odeal experiments with the texture and flow of the song by rapping the second verse. The change of flow combined with the dramatic pulse of the instrumentation, creates a vibrant alternative to the mellow intro. The lyrics are also a standout feature of the second verse. He labels his lover as a “Temptress by night, but you an angel by day.” and explains that this dichotomy is why it is “Hard for me to stick around.”. From beginning to end, he litters ‘Temptress’ with the type of deeply intimate verses you’d expect to see in a sonnet.
