Rebecca Haviland and Whiskey Heart have released a new single entitled ‘We All Cry A Little‘. The first thing I noticed was the clear inspiration of genres such as soul and roots rock. Its sound feels vibrant and impactful in today’s music scene. I’d like to see whether Haviland continues to draw from these genres in the upcoming EP ‘Late Nights‘.
Rebecca has been a touring session and backing musician for over 15 years. This experience shines through in her talents as a frontwoman and a songwriter. She states that the song’s concept came from “…the hardships of choosing a career that has you out on the road,” and the difficulties that come along with this lifestyle. The truth within the lyrics helps to bring the story to life in an authentic way.
The music video is an enjoyable addition to this new single. Haviland and her team utilise clips available under the public domain. It feels more like a piece of art in its own right than the visual aspect of a song.
This track follows on from the project’s first single ‘Monday Nights‘, which was released back in September. Rebecca Haviland and Whiskey Heart are working hard towards the release of the new EP.
