Make the jump, take the leap and cross the line to listen to Ricardo Williams latest instalment in his career. Born in Jamaica, Hackney raised, Williams now resides in Birmingham, UK, and has a very musical backstory to his career. Singing at just seven years old, performing in talent shows, school plays, and church, Ricardo later began to explore the world of original music-making at only twelve years old.
His professional singing career was launched through Gospel music and that soul has continued to filter through his releases. Beginning his career with two solo projects followed by another two with ‘The Company’, a gospel collective, Ricardo has now got a huge repertoire behind him, and this newest release is another addition to his mine of talent.
R&B centred, Cross The Line handles strength with a touch of gentility. Ricardo’s steady, beautiful voice carries the listener through; the melody responding and merging brilliantly with the chosen background beats within the verses and is given a place of freedom at multiple points throughout with the occasional run thrown in to express the ease of Williams’ vocal ability, matching the song and its aesthetics very well.
After his 2016 single Deeper garnered lots of attention from the R&B community, radio stations have been playing his releases, raising his popularity. Following this, he received critical acclaim from his track featuring Teedra Moses, and within the same year, he supported Faith Events at O2 Indigo, London. As you can see, this is an artist that is gathering a lot of interest and opportunities under his belt and it is well deserved.
