Last week rising Brit-pop artist SOFY brought us her latest single ‘socks‘, accompanied by a music video directed by Roisino. This release marks the first project to come under her new partnership with Chess Club Records. ‘socks‘ therefore sets her up for an exciting new era in her musical career.
‘socks‘ follows the release of ‘Bored in Colour (Pt.2)‘, which came out at the beginning of the year, and was rightfully met with much acclaim. SOFY has solidified her place in the indie-pop scene over recent years. This includes playing her first Glastonbury set to securing a spot on the renowned FIFA 23 soundtrack. She is undoubtedly only getting stronger and stronger.
When speaking on the new track, SOFY states; “‘socks’ is a full blown indie love song. It’s about falling when you least expect it, and not realising that something was missing from your life until it appears and suddenly everything you see and do feels different.”
At its core ‘socks‘ emits a vibrant summer spirit, laced with playful imagery and sweet notes of affection. Its bright, euphoric-sounding melodies nicely match the sentiment of the track. After all, it is about giving in to the clichés associated with love.
