Summer Walker Speaks on Conflicting Feelings with Latest Single ‘Heart Of A Woman’

Grammy-nominated R&B superstar Summer Walker graces our sound systems with her highly-anticipated single ‘Heart Of A Woman‘. Once again, the revered songstress provides another ‘90s R&B-style track that satiates her listener’s need for that soulful ‘90s sound.

Summer teased fans with snippets of ‘Heart Of A Woman’ following the announcement of her third album ‘Finally Over It‘. Despite not having a release date, this is the final installment in her ‘Over It‘ trilogy. It follows the success of her Billboard 200 chart-topper, 2021’s ‘Still Over It‘, and her career-defining debut album, 2019’s ‘Over It‘.

This soon-to-be chart-topping ballad contains all of the Atlanta singer’s signature traits: sultry vocals, a lush instrumental, and all the woes of a turbulent relationship. Summer explores how paradoxical and frustrating love can be on the track, singing: “In love with you, but can’t stand your ways.”. Love Island U.S.A. Season 6 winners Serena Page & Kordell Beckham take centre stage, yet again, and feature in the lyric video. Under the direction of Erik Rojas, the pair argue and gesticulate, reflecting the passion of the song’s lyrics.

Adjacent to making back-to-back hits, she hosted her second annual initiative ‘Buy Black Women Sh*t‘. It is an initiative that honours Black women-owned businesses in Atlanta.

Between her last two studio albums, she released her ‘Clear 2: Soft Life EP‘ in 2023. The project was nominated at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards for Best R&B Album. As a testament to her artistry, she has received a host of nominations in her career. These include 2 Grammys, 7 BET Awards, and numerous Soul Train Music Awards (including 3 wins).

Evidenced by the release of her latest single, and the success of the previous two LPs, ‘Finally Over It‘ will be a guaranteed award-nominee.
