As the nights get longer and the leaves more golden, Tabi Gervis has released her newest single ‘Autumn Dreams’, once again capturing everyone with her signature blend of jazz and pop.
The Brighton-based singer drew on the colours and cosiness of the season, saying, “We want to be in the colours of Autumn but we don’t want to be alone.”. Her goal was, “… to capture the feeling of missing someone you know you’ve wronged and I used the season of Autumn to capture that feeling.”.
Beginning as a piano ballad in collaboration with fellow artist Joel Gardner, Gervis worked with Toby Winson to produce the final song. “… we fleshed it out with lush instrumentation to give it that jazzy Tabi Gervis feel.” Reminiscent of the popular jazz standard ‘Autumn Leaves’, this lilting melody and soulful accompaniment capture the same juxtaposition of sadness and comfort with a modern twist.
From the passing sorrow of the lyrics to the meditative state born from the piece as a whole, Gervis’ song shines with the same precious charm as the gold in her lyrics.
