The Story So Far Event… How It Went Down

Post-event, The Story So Far panel, created by Music In Motion founder, Sophie Jackson and Taz of Alternative Content. was the networking event of dreams. The panel aims and succeeds in telling the story of industry professionals’ careers, describing each decision to what got them to this moment right now.

The industry panel, which was on the 13th October 2021, at Strongroom Studios in Shoreditch, provided added knowledge on working in music, from an artist perspective and those behind the scenes. Upon arrival we were greeted with the cutest Music In Motion cupcakes and complimentary drinks provided by Luc Belair… the layout was intimate, allowing us to freely make acquaintance with other attendees. 

Hosted by the amazing M Lavontelle, the panel started with founder Taz, who was the first UK rapper signed to Def Jam, and an Ivor Novello winner, responsible for co-writing hit tracks like Akon – Locked up, Ashanti – Baby Remix, and Dizzie Rascal – Just A Rascal. Taz gave us an insight into just how hard you have to graft to make it in this industry, providing not one singular route to success.

Followed by DJ Ironik, and the rest of the panel – it is safe to say there was a lot to take in. Most inspiring for us, was video director Frost, whose life story showed how determined and passionate he is about his work.

Paul Kennedy, the panel’s longest industry personnel, is a renowned music manager & publisher who founded 12one Entertainment. His years of experience and work with songwriters gave inspiration to many of those in the audience, in a space that is usually difficult to understand.

The event was prosperous in bringing together some of the greatest professionals the UK has and those yearning to be there. Be sure to follow Music In Motion and Sophie Jackson for more networking gems! They’re not to be missed.
