There is a new R&B duo on the scene, Vague Detail formed by UK singer-songwriters Kaleem Taylor and The Code. The pair have put their years of experience and musical expertise into curating a joint project – a perfect combination of their individual styles. With the introductory single “Broken” and an accompanying music video premiering on March 25th the pair have officially been introduced to fans after weeks of teasing the collab on socials.
Both are UK artists and have garnered musical success. Kaleem Taylor is known and praised for his lyricism and expressive vocal delivery and The Code though more mysterious, creates sleek, futuristic R&B with seductive vocals. Between them, they both have career highlights and many notable milestones, from performing with the Metropole Orkest or gracing the Electric Brixton stage.
“Broken” is likely to be on repeat and as the first track, it provides the perfect opening with a mellow R&B beat. Taylor and The Code welcome listeners to their world and life experiences singing soulfully and reminiscing about heartbreak and old love affairs, “I’ve been playing with your heart like it’s not broken” “damaging with every touch.” After setting the mood you’ll be in your feelings from the very beginning of the EP.
Speaking on ‘Vague Detail’ both artists’ share:
“This project is the meeting point. We’ve explored and grown separately, and we felt like this was the right time to put our minds together and be as free as possible with the sound. The project is a journey of previous experiences. We touch on things such as trust issues, doubts, needing security, not feeling ready and even the impact that feeling these things has on others.”
After listening to the latest release there is no doubt that ‘Vague Detail’ will be filled with alternative R&B and breaks the standard conventions of musical expression as the single gives listeners a juicy sample of what vibe to expect from the project and to answer with lyrics from the song “only you can tell me if it’s worth it.”
