5 Things We Learnt From Emerging Actor Amber Doig-Thorne

Amber Doig-Thorne is a woman of many talents and has already done so much in her career. From starring in award-winning short films to writing comedy shorts, she is truly a multifaceted talent. While being an actor herself, she has also interviewed many of them including Emily Blunt, Keanu Reeves, and Jessica Chastain.

Having recently starred in a film that has caught many’s attention Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey, we sat down over Zoom with Amber Doig-Thorne. It was a truly insightful interview, but these are 5 things we learned from our chat…


Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey is All About Fun

Many were left confused and excited when this film was announced for its very different take on the classic children’s characters. Amber who plays Alice in the film says people should not take the film too seriously and that there will be a lot of laughs and as the film’s title suggests ‘Blood‘. She jokingly acknowledges that people need to prepare for this before watching the film.

Alice is a Groundbreaking Character for Low-Budget Horror Movies

The character of Alice breaks the mold in a few ways for your average horror flick. For starters, she is in an LGBTQ+ relationship which is a rarity in horror films, especially those on a low budget. Amber states that she was really excited to play her as ‘her sexuality is just a part of who she is… it felt very authentic.’ This made the film exciting for her, alongside being a character who gets to take some revenge on the main villains’.

Keanu Reeves is Great to Interview

Amber has interviewed many stars in her career, but one of her highlights is, of course, Keanu Reeves. She points out his iconic status and her love for the John Wick films. They have even influenced her own acting. But, of course, she also points out how down to earth he is and that she ‘got to know them as individuals also in reference to Arnold Schwarzenegger. Truly, everything you may read about Mr. Reeves appears to be spot on.

Amber Doig-Thorne is Going To Star in a Viking Movie

Dying Breed is one of her upcoming films and it will be a different sort of film for Thorne. It’s set during the Viking era and about Slavic paganism. Amber is also producing this one, so she will have heavy involvement in the project and it will be interesting to see her take on a new style of film.

Alice is a Swiftie

Amber described herself as having a wide variety of musical tastes. However, she has specific playlists for her characters. For example, when doing a rom-com she will listen to a lot of Taylor Swift. She also details how this varies based on character. During the film, Alice transitions from Taylor Swift to Imagine Dragons and finally to AC/DC.
