Self-proclaimed suburban princess Charlotte Plank has kicked off 2025 right. In an electrifying new single, the BRIT-nominated star performs an ode to fleeting youth. Armed with chaotic drums building atop a twinkling Y2K-inspired groove, she wraps herself in all the teen dream guilt-free hedonism of being young. The new face of dance music has arrived.
Plank is taking back control of an often male-dominated D’n’B genre, and her membership in the female and gender-fluid collective Loud LDN is part of this venture. Inspired by the Australian and British rave scenes of her upbringing, she feels most at home performing at festivals and club nights.

Consequently, this caught the attention of Rudimental and Vibe Chemistry, known for making superstars out of their features. Their collaboration ‘Dancing is Healing’ was her breakthrough into the mainstream last year. However, she is keeping the momentum up with heavy hitters like this single which will solidify her status. I expect ‘chemical fashion‘ to take over the radio, clubs, and the rave scene. Its pleasure-seeking chorus and instant replay value is addictive.
It’s evident in this single – along with many of her releases – that whilst her feet are firmly placed in dance, she appreciates all music. Astonishingly, this breakthrough beauty cites Amy Winehouse as a huge inspiration. Furthermore, she notes Winehouse’s lyrical storytelling as a blueprint for how she approaches her material. You can hear this in ‘chemical fashion‘. As club-friendly as it is, the songstress manages to paint a vivid picture of a certain lifestyle. “We on that no sleep / Nineteen / Kissing through ashes,” she sings.
In summary, Charlotte has proved she’s a bad girl with bite. She is keeping fans enthralled with releases of consistently high quality. Furthermore, her genre-bending means she appeals to fans of jungle, Drum ‘n’ Bass, grunge, dance and pop. With a UK tour and an upcoming EP lined up for the remainder of the year, there is no slowing this up-and-comer down.
