Fuel Injection Bursts Onto the Scene with Debut Song

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Burton-based band and Purple List 2025 alumni, Fuel Injection have dropped their debut single, ‘White Light‘. It encompasses rock and roll, hard rock, and elements of heavy metal. The song was released on last Friday and involved a release party which I hosted at Dubrek Studios in Derby.

This track kick-starts their discography with a bang. Despite being labelled as a demo, the production team has achieved a level of quality that justifies releasing it as a final mix. Furthermore, I’ve often found that with hard rock and metal songs, a less polished finish can work to their advantage (I’m thinking Megadeth‘s iconic ‘Killing Is My Business…And Business Is Good!‘ album).

Simian Bones takes lead vocals, as he has done in more recent live shows. He has enough power and a range to carry a song of this scope, which I don’t think every vocalist can do. In addition, all four members, at the time of recording, join in for the ‘Let go!‘ chant on the pre-chorus and White Light!‘ in the chorus itself. The pre-chorus is where the bassline stands out to me the most, provided by Tragedy Jones. It feels quite funky and, without a doubt, sticks out to me where the lead guitar is more pulled back. Hayden Lince plays lead guitar and delivers a memorable solo that he crafts and executes exceptionally.

Release Party

The release party created a lively night at Dubrek. The Velocettes opened the event for the first time at this venue, and set the tone perfectly. Their set is a mix bag of vibes – with some punk influence, psychedelic rock, and alternative rock thrown in as well. They’re a lovely band and do what they do extremely well.

Fuel Injection’s set was one of their best yet. Since their first show in December of last year, they’ve added some fan favourites to their setlist. Their rendition of classic garage track ‘The Witch‘ by The Sonics always goes down well. However, I thought that switching up the style of how they perform Kyuss‘ ‘Big Bikes‘ was a great move, in which Ethan Evans on the drums stood out. Finishing off with ‘White Light‘ built the anticipation in the crowd and the energy was high when it was played.

The future may be unclear for these self-described ‘aliens‘, but one thing is clear. They possess a sound and energy that leaves fans wanting more.
