5 Things We Learnt From the Remarkable Janna Jamison

Janna Jamison has continued to prove her place amongst some of the strongest female artists. While sharing her songwriting skills on TikTok, the sensational musician not only showcases her undeniable talent but has become a beacon of strong female energy. Janna has been featured on our Purple List as an artist you should already be listening to. I was lucky enough to chat with her about all things’ music and incentive and these are five things that you have the pleasure of learning.

She knows herself better through her songwriting

She is not a stranger to a bit of self-reflection in her songs. Even when music can be an outlet for anger and upset, Janna always reflects on how situations have affected her. Ultimately, looking inward can be a chance to find one’s own insecurities and work through them. All feelings are valid but it’s what you do with them that counts.

Love conquers all

Love is at the heart of all her creative endeavours. Sometimes people might feel that people only write about love, but everything is about perspective. When songwriting Janna is always authentic with her feelings, so writing songs about her friends just comes naturally.

Using life lessons to guide her but also inspire her music

Life lessons can be the most inspiring form of art. As a result, being given something valuable can be the catalyst for creating something out of the love and appreciation you feel from always growing and learning.

She thinks a lot about her reason for making music

While being inspired by many strong female artists like Fiona Apple, Janna finds her place similarly by creating a safe space for girls who are experiencing life and all these new emotions all at once.

She was born to be on stage

She is at her best when she is performing. From open mics from the age of 11 to going on tour, Janna feels that performing is her strongest suit. Amid COVID, she took to TikTok as an online open mic. Luckily now, she is back on the stage where she belongs.

You can find Janna on TikTok and Instagram. Read more interviews here and see what our Purple List 2024 alumni are getting up to. The full interview will be on our YouTube channel tomorrow.
